I
t was 1957 when Edgar Sims, Jr. opened the 12-room
Royal Pine Motel in College Park, Maryland.
His vision: provide guests with outstanding service in an
extraordinarily maintained property.
As
Sims' family grew, so did his vision. Well-managed expansion,
opportunities for employees and community involvement were the
cornerstones of his business strategy. Those cornerstones remain
today.
Business
cycles and inclusion of family drove progress, as MHI acquired new
hotels and executed management contracts, repositioning distressed
properties for sale. Expanding on their parents' vast knowledge and
experience, Sims' sons, who grew up in the business, delved into the
renovation and operation of a range of properties - from limited to
full-service, from budget to luxury accommodations - all leading to
increased profitability.
Today,
the MHI family has grown to a highly-dedicated corporate staff with
more than 120 years of professional commitment to the Hotel
industry, and more than 1,500 employees around the United States.
Each member of our team shares Edgar Sims' philosophy of
hospitality.
Hospitality
- a warm and sincere welcome - remains MHI's guiding principle. It
is what drives our relationships with employees, what convinces
guests to come back, and what delivers results to
investors. We
welcome the opportunity to show you how MHI can help you achieve the
rewards and results you demand and deserve. Expertise
